My Birthday and how I kept it balanced, you can too!

Hey-O,

I hope everyone is doing well! Yesterday was my birthday and I had an awesome day celebrating! I was able to train a couple clients, get in a workout, eat a yummy lunch and dinner, and also enjoy those sweets I love so much!

I had an overwhelming amount of love yesterday and I just want to thank everyone for that. You all mean so much to me and I wouldn't be who I am, or where I am without each and everyone of you, so THANK YOU!

Let me get into my day! I am all about that balanced life, I love to workout, but I also love to have fun and eat yummy foods. Now don't get me wrong, healthy food can still be yummy too.

I started my day like any other day, made myself some eggs, with spinach and had some oatmeal to go along with it! I had a lovely vase of flowers waiting for me and a lovely card from my amazing boyfriend.

I went to get in my car and was surprised to see a lovely birthday sign waiting for me, with a car full balloons! I really do have the best boyfriend in the whole entire world.

I proceed to drive to work, and celebrate with some of my favorite jams in the car. I trained a couple of clients and then I was pretty much done for the day. Now here is what you have been waiting for..... MY WORKOUT! :)

Cardio: 30 minutes on the stair master (fat burner level 10)

Workout:
Circuit 1: 60 sec work, 20 sec rest 2x
  • Surrenders weighted with dumbbells (right leg the first time, left the second)
  • Burpee tuck jumps
Circuit 2: 60 sec work, 20 sec rest 2x
  • Jog in place with standing dumbbell front shoulder press
  • Weighted dumbbell skaters
  • Frog cruches
Circuit 3: 2x
  • Pull-ups (As many as possible- AMAP)
  • Lying oblique crunches (30 sec left side, 30 sec right side)
  • 10 mountain climbers, 5 push-ups 3x
2x8- Barbell front squats

After my workout, I went and got myself a tri-tip steak salad with citrus vinaigrette. It is my birthday after all so of course I headed to the sweet shop to see what they had to offer that day. My favorite dessert on the planet has to be Oreos, or anything with Oreos in it!  No joke they had Oreo cupcakes, I lost it for a moment! I was so happy, it really is the little things! :)

Once I devoured my delicious cupcake, I went home to hang out with my man, my pup, and my amazing friend Devry! Followed by a delicious dinner filled with red meat and wine!

Life is too short and if you blink you might miss it! You only have one shot so enjoy it! Enjoy the little things and worry about the rest later! I love working out and eating right, but sometimes you just have to let go and realize that you can always start fresh tomorrow, and if tomorrow never comes at least you will have no regrets! Live life, love life, and live it balanced! Fitness and health is super important, but it's not everything!

Pistols..Out!
xo

P.S.- I want to thank everyone again for the beautiful birthday wishes, they mean more than you all will ever know! xoxoxoox

Have Fun and Reach Your Goals

Happy Sunday!

I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and doing some fun things. I know that I enjoyed this weekend by keeping it very low key. :) Since, I was at Coachella last weekend I thought I would keep it a little more chill this weekend, I cleaned the house, walked the dog, and caught up on my zzz's.

Due to my love a music festivals I wanted to talk about living a balanced life. I love having fun and enjoying life to it's fullest. Come on ya'll we only have one shot! That doesn't mean that I am going to treat my body poorly though. I know I don't know when I will leave this wonderful planet, but I want to make sure my body is in good health and I have the best quality of life through all of my years. As much as I love to have a good time, I do enjoy eating right an working out.

Now, I didn't alway used to like the eating right and working right part. It took time, it took me years to get in the groove and even today I still have battles. It's life right, nothing ever goes perfect, but that is the perfect thing about life. :) Let's get to the point shall we. It is really simple I promise you! It will take a little while but you can do it and once you get there it's all about maintaining instead of working your butt off, but by that time I bet you will enjoy working your butt off and seeing those awesome results.

My newest fitness adventure has taken me 4 months of ups and downs. I started with this awesome company called beach body and decided to do their 21 day fix challenge while hosting a challenge group of my own. This program is a 30 minute workout, that comes with food containers, a meal guide, and a meal replacement shake that is packed with nutrients. Also, you can drink on this program! It's pretty amazing. Now my first month was a little rocky, I cheated with some of the meals and missed a few workouts. Hey, I still lost 12 pounds and inches off my waist. From there on it was making small adjustments, getting in all the workouts, and saying no to crappy food on the weekend. I was still going out and hanging out with my friends.

To be honest with you all, the first time I went to an outing and said NO to booze I was scared. I thought everyone would be like "come on, just have a glass of wine" or "what? why?" but nope my friends didn't say anything. I realized I was making a bigger deal out of it then I thought they would. I had my eye on the prize Coachella Music Festival was 3 months away. I was in full gear!

I actually ended up buying the extreme 21 day fix and seeing even better results. The week before I left I felt like a calorie blasting machine. I was shredding pounds and gaining all kinds of muscle tone.

I was ready, I got their and didn't feel self conscience at all. You know when you get drunk and you forget to suck it in a pic, it's the worst. I didn't have to worry about that though, I was an amazing feeling. It took hard work, it took some adjusting, it took some falls, but I always shook it off and stood up ready to make adjustments and learn. I still went out with my friends, I still had a good time, I still drank on occasion, ate pizza, and desert. I ended up at my goal of felling like a million bucks and had a great time at Coachella. I even ended up being on Play Boy's Hottest girls at Coachella!

Hard work pays off and you can have fun doing it too! You just have to keep your eye on the prize!!! Keep your goals in mind always and have faith in your will power! It is important however that you have the right program because with out that it's hard to see the results you want. If you want to know more about the program I used please feel free to reach out! You can e-mail me at ahiben16@gmail.com I'd love to help you get those results you want! :)

Until next time, keep trying and keep learning!

Get Results That Stick!

Hi everyone!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend! It's time to start a new week and keep reaching for those goals!
It is important that you know and realize that fitness is a journey not a destination. Many times we focus on the short term goal instead of looking to the future. I'm not saying those short term goals are not important, of course they are. That is what keeps you motivated and going, those small wins! You should always have a long term and short term goal! Here are mine:
  • Short term: Get hot for Coachella
  • Long term: Quality of life as I age, no dippers when I'm in my older years
This is what keeps me going day in and day out! Whatever it is, make sure you write it down some place you can see it everyday this will help!

I want to talk to you about my most recent transformation. I have been a beach body coach for going on 4 months now. I signed up skeptical of the programs and the foundation that beach body stands on. As the days went by and I went through coach training I realized that this company is there for me for us! To help people first and foremost, this is a community of people that want to see you succeed in life and in fitness. I purchased the 21 day fix program, I have never done an at home workout DVD, what are we living in the 90's?! As I pressed play, I told myself this will be easy, I got this. Hahahahah it was tough, different then what I had been doing in the gym. It hit me, this was going to be hard, and if it was hard for me, a person who works out for a living, shish how will my clients react? Duh.... they will love it! :)

I started following the meal plan using my containers and meal guide. I realized how much extra I was consuming, and all the little bites of everything here and there were adding up.

As the days and weeks went on I began to notice a change in my body. I felt faster, stronger, leaner, not only that I had more confidence. Let's all be honest, it doesn't matter how many times people tell you look great, unless you feel it, you don't believe it! When I gain weight, I lose self confidence, my cloths don't fit right and I have to have the "talk" with myself about putting my skinny jeans away, which is a feeling no one likes!

I had decided no more! I was doing this thing full force. Given the fact that I am human, I knew that I would fall and stumble some days. I gave myself a 4 month window to reach my goals (be hot for Coachella remember?) That is what I did!

It wasn't easy, some days where harder then others, some days I didn't try. I always kept in mind that yesterday doesn't effect today. Just because I made bad choices earlier I won't let that effect my whole outcome, the whole 4 months. If I didn't want to work out that day, I listened to my body. I would foam roll or stretch. If I missed a day I didn't beat myself up. I did the best I could, and to be honest if I wanted ice cream or pizza I didn't deprive myself but kept it for the weekends only. I cut out drinking as much as I could my max is 3 drinks a weekend.

This all took time though and patience! You can do it, just remember it's a journey not a destination!
Here are my results! Check it out, I'm so happy with where I am and how far I have come!

12 easy tips for meal prepping

Hi everyone!

It has been a while! I'm sorry I have been M.I.A! Life has been a little crazy and I am juggling a lot! I miss you all and I'm excited to be back in action! I wanted to talk about meal prepping today since I know it's a hot topic and people are always looking for tips and ideas, so here you go! I hope you enjoy!

When it comes to healthy eating, preparation is the key to success. In fact, one study published in the American Journal of Preventative Medicine suggests that spending time on preparing and cooking meals at home is linked to better nutritional habits. If you are always on the go and need the accessibility of prepackaged foods and restaurant meals, it might be hard to quite those habits.

However, anything is possible when you put your mind to it! You just have to be ready and willing to take the time to plan and prep those meals. It will help make healthy choices easy! Instead of hitting up your go to restaurant or corner deli for a cold cut calorie loaded sandwich, you’ll have a nutritious and delicious home cooked meal that can be heated up faster than you can walk two blocks.  Another bonus you will also save money while you’re at it!
I know for some cooking can be a bit scary but there are a ton of tricks out there to make it easy. From breakfast options to methods for whipping up meals in bulk, this will help you to set up for a healthy week. Grab your favorite Tupperware and let’s get started!

1. Season meat three ways using just one pan:
If you’re sticking to lean meats like chicken, chowing down on the same flavors can get tedious after a while. I know for myself it became old, really fast. Save your taste buds and time by preparing two or three variations of chicken at once, using aluminum foil dividers in your pan. Sriracha, BBQ, honey mustard — you can have it all!

2. Hard-boil eggs in the oven — not in a pot.
An excellent source of protein, vitamins A and B and healthy fat, eggs are a no brainer choice when eating healthy. The problem is that you can usually only fit up to five eggs in a pot. To make a delicious dozen at one time, bake your eggs in muffin tins for just 30 minutes. You’ll get a perfectly hard-boiled batch. Pro tip: Do a small test run first to ensure your oven doesn’t run too hot or too cold before cooking a full pan of eggs.

3. Freeze blended smoothies in muffin tins.
Never have the time to measure out a million fixings for a morning sip? Save time by buying the ingredients in bulk, blending your favorite beverage, and then freezing the mixture in muffin tins.

4. Chop or spiralize raw vegetables in advance.
My spiraler is one of my favorite kitchen tools, if you don’t have one, it’s time to get one! If you are always in a rush, like me, and you are too hangry to make dinner when you get home try this out. Cut veggies in bulk ahead of time to avoid wasting precious minutes chopping on busy weeknights. Zucchini noodles and butternut squash noodles will stay fresh in the fridge for 3-5 days, and chopped vegetables like carrots, onion and pepper will last a week when refrigerated properly in a sealed plastic bag or tupperware. My boyfriend and I love zucchini spaghetti night, we actually prefer it to pasta.

5. Roast different vegetables with same cooking time.

Roasting vegetables is a great way to bring out their natural sweetness, but waiting 30 to 40 minutes for each pan to cook can be time-consuming. To prep a large batch of veggies, try pairing them based on roasting time. Fast-cooking vegetables that can bake in the same pan include asparagus, mushrooms and cherry tomatoes; slow-roasting vegetables include carrots, cauliflower, onions, potatoes and parsnips.

6. Make portions crystal clear.

Guard against overeating by portioning your nuts, pretzels, veggies or favorite nibbles into plastic baggies or portable jars. It’s easy to mindlessly munch when you’ve got an entire bag sitting in front of you, but having just enough ready to go for lunch or a snack will keep you from going overboard.

7. Customize healthy oatmeal jars.

Fiber-rich foods like oatmeal are ideal for keeping you satiated until lunchtime, but most packets have lots of added sugar and unnatural preservatives. If you DIY and use portable glass jars, you’ll control exactly what and how much you’re eating. From “monkey mix” to “raspberries and dark chocolate,” these genius flavor combinations will keep your taste buds happy.

8. Bag up smoothie ingredients.
Ever put a little of this, a little of that in your blender and end up with a supersized smoothie? Save yourself from unnecessary calories by pre-assembling and freezing the ingredients. By measuring out your berries, yogurt (frozen in an ice cube tray) and greens ahead of time, your shake will be perfectly portioned, every time.

9. Use muffin tins for smarter breakfast frittatas.
This is great if you have kids also, because it is fun and healthy. The only way one of my clients can get her kid to eat veggies is if they come in the shape of a muffin! These are perfect! Also, for you adults and parents you get to enjoy a delicious frittata every morning of the week, and only turn your stove on once. The secret? Make-ahead egg muffins! Make several of these recipes in advance (you can store in the fridge for up to five days) so you don’t get bored throughout the week. Wrap them in a paper towel to microwave them so they won’t dry out.

10. Always roll with some protein-rich snacks.
Protein is essential for muscle recovery after a tough workout and it also keeps hunger at bay — making it an A+ choice for snacks. Instead of reaching for a packaged protein bar that could have more than 400 calories and 28 grams of sugar, try making your own energy balls. Whip up a batch and store them in the fridge for up to six days.

11Skewer meats for quick portions.
Kabobs aren’t just for street meat. Weighing your chicken (or salmon or beef) and putting it on wooden skewers can help you control how much you’re eating in one sitting. (Four ounces of chicken has approximately 36 grams of protein, and six ounces of salmon has 34 grams of protein.) Cook up a batch and save some skewers for the rest of the week. If you’re using wooden ones, remember to soak them in water so they won’t catch fire in your grill or oven.

12. Pre-assemble jarred lunch salads.

Think salad from home is a no-go because it always gets soggy? Think again. Using a glass jar will save your veggies from getting mucky before lunchtime. Put your dressing at the bottom of the jar, layering sturdier vegetables like peppers and beets, and then saving the leafy greens for the top. Put a paper towel square at the top to absorb moisture if you’re storing the salad for multiple days.

I hope you enjoyed and these tips were helpful! Have a great day and until next time!
