This is excluded a lot from text when you are looking up new workouts to do, or like most you just skim over that!!! DON'T!!!! If you want results you HAVE to eat right.... end of story!
Where do I begin? You might ask, well if your goal is to lose weight this is what I have my clients do..... find a website or an app that you like and LOG YOUR FOOD!!! Just for a week, because we are creatures of habit and usually will eat the same things. Then after you have done this find 500 calories that you can cut out, that venti vanilla latte you get, or the cookies you have after dinner, replacing soda with water, cutting out your morning OJ, whatever you think you can survive without!!! 500 calories everyday for a week = 3,500 calories=1lb!!! BOOM! Now you are on the right track, after this try to start making healthy changes to your diet!
Make sure you are eating breakfast, getting enough protein, taking your vitamins, eating enough veggies, and what most people don't know is keep the fruit to a minimum. This is because it is high in sugar, yes good sugar but anything in excess is stored as fat! Also make sure you are drinking enough water, and you are eating good complex carbs!! Check out the new food pyramid if you need help/guidance on picking foods out! Cut out the processed sugar, hydrogenated oil, canned food, fast food, and soda's.
For you out there trying to put on some muscle or just burn fat and get toned up, the same goes for you with eating healthy and cutting out that crappy food! However, what is important for you is your protein intake!!! You want to consume as many grams of protein as you want to weigh if you are trying to lose. Let's say you weigh 225lbs and you want to weigh 220lbs, you need to make sure you are consuming 220 grams of protein. Here is a simple equation if you who are trying to get big: body-weight in lbs x 20kcal daily to gain.
The best way to make sure you are getting enough in, is protein shakes, yes not all of them taste great, but it is important and if you want results you need to do it! Otherwise it is really hard especially if you need high intakes of it. Be careful when taking high amounts of protein because it is very hard on your kidneys, drinking enough water will help those kidneys out!
Also, I would like to stress that there is no miracle diet, sorry!!! Yes, with these stupid diets you will lose weight but for the most part it will be water weight, and when you go back to eating like a normal human being you will blow up and be right back to where you started. Also, yo-yo dieting is very hard on your body and in the long run can end up slowing down your metabolism having the opposite effect you really desire. I hate to break it to you, but you are stuck with your fat cells, you can shrink them but they will never go away! Even with lipo they have found your body will remake those lost fat cells and they might end up in a more noticeable place. Good things take time, baby steps!!!
When I talk about nutrition this is a way of life, you are making a life style change, not dieting! You are becoming a better, healthier, stronger you!!!
Lastly, choose a eating life style that works for you!!! Not everyone will like being a vegan, or a vegetarian, there is something out there for everyone paleo, Atkins, South Beach whatever it may be. Pick one you like and stick with it!!! For me I just eat healthy and make good choices, go with the salad instead of the fries easy small things that become habits!!
I hope that this helps!!! Until next week!!!
