What's up everyone?!!!
Happy Saturday!! I can't believe another week has come and gone, it seems like the weeks are just flying by. I hope you are enjoying them to the fullest! :) For the past couple weeks I have been doing a lot of plyometrics (jumping), heavy leg work, and by doing some my body wasn't happy with me. I started to give myself Plantar fasciitis. This is where your calf muscles get tight and then begin to pull on the muscles in the foot, giving you a sharp pain when you walk. I decided to nip this problem in the bud and started stretching, foam rolling, and just staying off of it this week (besides light walking). I have a couple more days of rest and then I'll be back at it on Monday. :) It's feeling a lot better. Case in point, please make sure you are listening to your body, if you need rest take it. Trust me your body knows best, don't push it! It's better to take care of the problems before they happen then having to have set backs like I just did this week.
That being said, today's workout will focus on core and upper body. If you want to see this workout live you can tune into my Periscope channel @ebfbyashley at 12:30PM PST today. I will review all the moves so you have an idea of what they look like, and the video will stay up for 24 hours.
Just a heads up I am changing my handle on Monday and I am going to transition to a different blog as well. I am rebranding to a new name my new IG handle is @fitfestivalbabe and my new blog will be Fit Festival Nation. You'll be able to find me at fitfestivalnation.blogspot.com :) I'll give you all the details there. Also my twitter and periscope is @fitfstvalnation I can't wait for this new journey!! Sunday Funday Tabata Workout
Hello and happy Sunday!
I hope your weekend has treated you well, I know mine has. I went to a concert on Friday night, trained some clients and went to a workshop on Saturday, and today I slept in and I am educating myself on how to have a the life I want. I would consider that a pretty solid weekend. However, I did not have time to post on social media or on periscope. I usually post this workout on Saturday and although I love you all very much and your support is seriously everything, my number one priority is spending time with my family and educating myself so I can better help you. Life gets in the way and I am trying to be as consistent as possible, but it's not always going to happen. I know you all get busy and overwhelmed and I am no different. I am not wonder women as much as I would like to be. :)
Anyways, I just wanted to update you a little bit on what was going on. Now let's get into today's workout. You can catch the tutorial video on the app Periscope. I will be on at 1pm PST and it will be up for the next 24 hours. My handle is ebfbyashley and you can also find me on instagram as well! Let's get to it.

Breakfast veggie cups recipe
Hello!
I hope you all are enjoying your Sunday to it's fullest! I know I always do! Sundays are my sleep in days, my man knows not to wake me, I stay in bed until I feel like getting out! I feel like Sundays are a day of rest and you should spend them how you'd like. I mean I'm not going to lie once I'm up it's go time. I make breakfast, walk the pup, workout, and whatever work I have to get done, well it gets done. Today I have some catch up homework on a online class that I'm taking. It's called Marketing Impact Academy and it's held by this awesome women named Chalene Johnson. I'm obsessed right now, and have a huge lady crush! :) She is a go getter and I totally relate to her in most ways. I'm excited to see what this academy does for me and my business. I'm already noticing slight changes, so it's really exciting for me! :)
Anyways, this afternoon (lol) I did a Periscope video on these yummy breakfast cups! If you missed it go check it out at ebfbyashley. I put them together and then do a short taste test video with Rastko. He thinks that they are "bomb" so it's one way to get your guy to eat his veggies! :)
Ok here we go!

How to pick the right workout shoe
Hi all you workout fens,
I hope you are having a great week! It has come to my attention that a lot of
people don't know how to pick out the right workout shoe. It's hard there are
a lot of shoes out there and a lot of information. I'm going to try and help you
out today and simplify it a little bit. :)
Choosing the right workout shoe is as important for your foot health
as for your performance. While the clothes you choose for a workout are
important, the shoe you select can make a huge difference in how you
perform your fitness activity, while the wrong athletic shoes can
hurt your feet and even cause injury to other parts of your body.

When choosing an athletic shoes:
Consider what type of exercise you'll be doing. The exercise will help determine which athletic shoes offer the best features for your needs.
- Running: If running is your main form of exercise, look for running shoes that provide plenty of cushioning, traction, and stability. They should also be lightweight and flexible.
- Walking. walking shoes should offer a comfortable cushion that absorbs shock, and a sole designed to support the natural walking movement of the foot.
- Court shoes. If you play tennis, volleyball, basketball, racquetball, or other court sports, find a shoe with a sturdy, stable sole that can support your feet during constant back-and-forth movement.
- Outdoor field sport shoes. If you're looking for footwear for baseball, soccer, golf, or football, you'll want shoes with cleats, spikes, or studs for better traction.
A quick tip to check a shoe's stability before you buy: Bend the shoe, holding it at both ends. It should bend naturally behind where the ball of the foot would be, since that's where your foot naturally bends. Also, make sure the heel counter is sturdy. The heel counter is a stiff cup that surrounds the heel part of the shoe. Squeeze the heel counter and make sure it doesn't cave in when you apply pressure.
Athletic Shoes: Fitting and Testing
Trying on shoes in the store can be different than wearing them during your workouts, but there are ways to make sure your shoes will fit well when you're in the middle of a hard workout:
- Shop in the afternoon. If you try on athletic shoes toward the end of the day, when your feet are more swollen, you'll get a better idea of how they fit.
- Shop in socks. When you look for athletic shoes, wear the socks that you use during a workout. You want to make sure the shoes fit properly with your athletic socks.
- Go large in the toes. Make sure that your shoes have about half an inch of wiggle room between the end of the shoe and your longest toe. If your feet are different sizes, opt for the larger shoes for better comfort.
- Snug fit in the heel. New athletic shoes shouldn't slip on your heels, but they shouldn't be too snug in the toes, either. Make sure that the ball of your foot fits easily in the widest part of the athletic shoe.
- Try them out. Test out the shoes for at least 10 minutes in the store, or even outside if the store will allow it, before you decide to buy.
If you have problem feet, talk to the sales representative at the store about what types of sneakers are best for you. If you have high arches, for example, you'll need a different style of shoe than someone with flat arches.
Remember, every athletic shoe is different, as is every foot, so don't rely on a style you find attractive or a shoe that you like on someone else. Be clear about your needs and any special foot problems you have, try on lots of different styles, and test them out in the store.
Also, I want to mention that you should not pick your shoe based on the colors or how cute they are. Yes, these are all pluses, but should not be the main focus. You are on your feet all day, be kind to them. Where shoes that offer support and cushion.
That being said, I want all of you to stay away from Nike Free's, the reason being is that they have little to no cushion and support. It is like you are constantly walking around on a wabble board and your body can't find balance. If it can't do this just standing how the heck are you supposed to workout in them, espically without cause harm or injury to your body.
The top shoes to go for:
- New Balance
- Asics
- Brookes
- Mizuno
Now go find a good shoe and get rid of those old, nasty, ratty ones you have been holding on to for far too long! Your feet and body will thank you! :)
